Dedicated youth worker and “Native Deen” nasheed group member Joshua Salaam asks young Muslims the simple questions: Who are you? How do you identify yourself? Equipped with years of youth coordination and counseling experience, brother Joshua engages the listener with both humor and thoughtfulness. He asks you to think deeply and to answer the questions for yourself. Referencing an insightful sociological study, he shows us how our answers can be significantly influenced by our friends, our surroundings and/or the information we consume. Are we really being who we say we are, or are we being who others say we are? And at the end of the day, are we really being who Allah says we are? A very enjoyable and beneficial talk that’s not too heavy with Qur’an and Hadith but is meant to empower young Muslims with a clear sense of direction and determination regardless of the external pressures they may face. A lecture ideal for the entire family that can spark meaningful discussions about issues that really matter.
