The first session of a four-part series called “Islamic Psychology of the Self” introduces the science of purifying the self. Paying special attention to the fact that “the day we were born, we were born to die”, Imam Mokhtar Maghraoui investigates the whole mission of the Prophet (S) and our responsibility as Muslims striving to complete our journey back home to Paradise! The imam challenges the audience to examine their own inner-selves, stressing the importance for one to be conscious of every act committed, ever word uttered, and every thought entertained. Are we living up to the true intent of Allah and the purpose that He has endowed humankind with? This eye-opening lecture provokes one to think about his or her own “nafs” (the lower self) in the context of successfully completing the mission that the Muslim has been given for his or her life on this earth.
